I'm a self-starter and an optimist.

I live for God. I love my family. And I can't get enough of my friends.

And I'm a die-hard entrepreneur.

Formal stuff

My name is Brian Lash, and I'm an entrepreneur. In April 2007 I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh.

I love to learn, but what's more, I love to apply what I learn to the creation of tangible things. That desire takes a number of forms, but most recently it has manifested itself in the start of First Blog Media, and in the development of this weblog.

I was raised in my family's small business, The Country Store, where I began working informally at age 13, and I am delighted that my parents let me help them on weekends to this day. I am humbled by the endless hours my mom and dad dedicate to the maintenance of their retail store. And I know that that dedication is the reason I have had so many opportunities - to see interesting places, to meet loads of wonderful people, to get a university education - in my short lifetime.

I'm consumed by the spirit of entrepreneurship. I dream of creating organizations greater than myself, and I long to use them as instruments to make meaning in the lives of those around me.

Walt Whitman said, "That the powerful play goes on, and you will contribute a verse."

And so I live - to build, to fail, and to re-build - until mine is a verse worth remembering.
